Seize the Day
Thursday 11 Jan 2018
For many reasons I won’t go into here I have spent a lot of time over the holiday break considering the importance of ‘seizing the day’. It’s easy to spend time worrying and wondering. Hours and days can go by considering the ‘what if’ and the ‘maybe’ when more often than not the best decision is to simply make a decision and get on with it. So that’s going to be my mantra for the new year and I encourage it to be yours as well. Seize the day and get on with it.
Predications that the market will ease this year should come as no surprise for the simple fact that it had to ease sometime. What does that mean for our clients? Is the potential for a slowdown reason to hold back? Should it stop you making a decision to make a move into or out of property?
I think not. Definitely not. As I have said many times, and will continue to say to anyone who asks, anyone willing to listen and, perhaps most importantly those who don’t want to hear it; Don’t panic. The market still has the capacity to deliver worthy returns.
Don’t focus on the headlines. Look at the detail and see the numbers that show there is plenty of room for double digit value growth.
The population of Sydney continues to grow and with that comes demand for property. I don’t see that changing. Increasing amounts of new stock coming onto the market will change the dynamic of the market but it won’t reduce demand.
If buyers are tentative it just means our team have to work harder and smarter to achieve the best outcomes for their clients. They too have committed to seize each day of the new year with a view to exceeding all expectations about what the Sydney property market holds in 2018.
It is going to be another exciting, challenging, rewarding year. I’m going to get on with it to make sure I make the very best of every opportunity.
