Choose wisely

Selling property is a process that involves a seemingly endless line of big decisions, each one representing what can feel like a potentially life changing outcome. The decision to sell is big enough but then there is the decision on who to entrust with negotiating the sale of your property.  Indeed that can be the choice that will most influence the outcome of your decision to sell. So how do you do it? (read more)

How do you do it?  Carefully and with consideration.

Of course it’s pretty obvious that I’m far from an independent commentator on this issue but regular readers of this blog will know that I am never afraid to tell it like it is.  And on this topic I think it’s particularly interesting that one of the most common questions is whether it’s best to choose an agent or an agency.

In my view that’s a redundant question. For any agent to achieve outstanding results they need the support of a team within the agency.  In turn, any successful agency is made up of great individuals working together to deliver the best results and service to their clients.

You simply can’t have one without the other.

Don’t get me wrong there is no doubt it is vital to have a good rapport with your agent.  That individual professional relationship must be strong.  You don’t have to become best mates but selling a property is a high stakes game so you need to respect the experience and knowledge of the person you entrust with the process.

But remember no good agent works alone so if you are deciding on an agent don’t forget to ask how they operate. You may engage with an individual agent but you want them to be working together with a team of agents with the support of a professional in-house marketing and administration experts.

I am very proud of the fact Morton agents have a track record of developing long-term professional relationships with clients.  They stay in touch, providing market insights and advice over years and often work with a single client through multiple property transactions. Repeat business is the ultimate accolade for the results and service delivered by individuals supported by our team.
